Julian Assange (b. 1971) is an Australian journalist and freedom of speech activist, who founded the WikiLeaks website, which publishes leaked information from anonymous whistleblowers.
He has been living in the Ecuadorian embassy in London since June 2012 when his appeal against his arrest as part of a Swedish sexual assault investigation was rejected by the UK Supreme Court. US authorities also want to interview him in connection with WikiLeaks’ release of a large number of confidential diplomatic cables and emails.
