A reader, Continentàl, recommends an article on Europe's Asian challenge by EU affairs blogger Craig Willy.
According to the author, a divided EU is losing a race against Asia. Slow and consensus-driven, policymaking in Brussels is totally disarmed vis-à-vis the central Chinese state. The EU will need to either revert to nation states or become far more cohesive. If it doesn't achieve the cohesion to force China to respect Western principles it will have to adapt itself to the East Asian development model. Is the choice between a German Europe and a Chinese one?
