We are still making progress

According toa study by the EU's Joint Research Centre and the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency, China has emitted almost as much carbon dioxide per capita as the European Union — 7.2 tonnes (up 9%) against 7.5 tonnes (down 3%). The main polluter per capita remains the United States with 17.3 tons. China accounts for 29% of overall CO2 emissions in the world, ahead of the United States (16%) and the EU (11%).
