So, it was a beautiful coronation

The committee charged with organising the investiture of Willem-Alexander as the new king of the Netherlands on April 30, has decided to use the Het Koningslied song, composed especially for the occasion, despite a flurry of harsh criticism directed at the piece in the media and on the Internet.

An online petition collected nearly 40,000 signatures calling for the song to be ditched, on the grounds that it is overly sentimental and its lyrics contain grammatical errors.

Its Anglo-Dutch composer John Ewbank, announced it would be withdrawn, after a torrent of insults lambasting the song flooded social networking websites.
