US President Barack Obama gave a keynote speech at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate calling for a new push to reduce US and Russian nuclear stockpiles.

However, the much anticipated address, which fell on the 50th anniversary of former US president John F Kennedy’s historic Ich bin ein Berliner speech received as cool a response from Russia, as Kennedy’s received in 1963 from the Soviet Union, with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin saying Moscow "cannot take these assurances seriously".
