On the flower "NSA eavesdropping scandal"
Peer Steinbrück as a bee
Nectar... Nectar ...
According to the German daily Bild, the German army was aware of the existence of PRISM, the US National Security Agency (NSA) eavescropping system, as early as 2011.
After the revelations by whistleblower Edward Snowden on the close cooperation between the NSA and the German intelligence service, this information – denied by Chancellor Angela Merkel – once again raises the question of what she knew about Prism.
To Peer Steinbrück, the Social Democratic Party (SPD) candidate and Merkel's main challenger in the forthcoming parliamentary elections in September, the subject has becomes an election argument.
