Hezbollah sanctions: Unforseen consequences
23 July 2013
The European Union included part of Hezbollah on its list of terrorist organisations on July 22, pledging to distinguish between members of the Lebanese Shiite group's political wing, and those of its paramilitary wing, who will now be subject to sanctions, such as financial and travel restrictions.
In Lebanon, this decision risks complicating the formation of a government, which the country has been without since March. Hezbollah is the main Shiite party in the country.
