War in Syria: Warlike return to school!
28 August 2013
The British government has announced that, on August 28, it will propose a UN Security Council resolution condemning the "chemical weapons attack by [Syrian President] Assad" and authorising "all necessary measures to protect civilians," in a bid to obtain a mandate for military intervention against the Damas regime.
The use of force will have to be authorised by at least nine of the 15 members of the Security Council. Russia and China, which both have the right to exercise a veto, have already said they will oppose the resolution.
