On October 22, the European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid Kristalina Georgieva (on the pedestal) announced that the European Commission will respond to Bulgaria's demand for assistance in coping with the massive influx of Syrian refugees.
In a context where reception camps have reached their limits, Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev (to the left of the wall) has criticised the government's response to the refugee crisis, while the leader of the ultra-nationalist Ataka party, Volen Siderov, (on the right) has affirmed that he may withdraw his support for the government if it does not do something to halt the "Islamisation" of Bulgaria.
