‘A network of eager CIA helpers’

A total of 54 countries took part in secret CIA detention and extraordinary rendition of terrorist suspects after the September 11 attacks, according to a report by the Open Society Justice Initiative (OSJI).

Some countries are said to have let CIA planes use their airspace or refuel, others, including Poland and Lithuania, hosted so called “black sites” where terrorist suspects were transported, interrogated and tortured.
