The vote to rein in remuneration for corporate CEOs and outlaw golden parachutes, which was approved on March 3 in Switzerland, has been greeted with interest from the French government.
French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault declared that he would like to draw “inspiration” from this “excellent democratic experiment”.
A bill is being prepared for the end of March, however, its critics say that it does not go far enough. According to Libération, “Matignon [the PM's official residence] is worried [...] that it will become the target of fresh attacks from European business circles,” in the wake of the controversy over the government's plans for a 75 per cent tax.
