The drive to combat tax evasion will be on the agenda at the meeting of Europe’s finance ministers to be held in Dublin on April 12 and 13.
Luxembourg’s decision to accept automatic exchange of information from January 1, 2015, Austria’s announcement that it would set aside banking secrecy, and the recent agreement for close collaboration between Europe’s five largest economies have stepped up pressure on those who are hesitant on the issue of secrecy, notes the daily.

The Swiss will have difficulty resisting this groundswell. All the more, as Luxembourg has said with regard to Switzerland, it cannot “refuse to grant Europe” concessions that it has made to the United States with the ”bill to cooperate with US FATCA legislation adopted by the Federal Council yesterday.
