A year to the day after his election to the French presidency, socialist leader François Hollande's approval rating now stands at 24 per cent, the lowest level ever reported for a president of the Fifth Republic at this stage in his term.
On May 5, the Left Party (PG), which supported Hollande’s election, organised a demonstration, which brought between 30,000 and 180,000 people onto the streets of Paris, to deplore “the failure” of the Socialist-Green government led by Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault.
