A minimum wage should be introduced in Poland as it would help millions of people whose wages are “a violation of human dignity”, writes Gazeta Wyborcza, which points out that even in crisis-stricken Greece employees earn a minimum of €4 for 60 minutes. Polish employers are eager to pay people an hourly rate to bypass regulations for a minimum gross salary, currently at 1600 PLN (€400).
According to Ministry of Labour estimates, more than 900,000 people in Poland, including students and those unable to find a better job, are working for an hourly rate and as a result are not protected by labour market regulations.
