"Law faculty turned into shantytown," complains To Ethnos. On 23 January, 250 Afghan immigrants and a number of left-wing students occupied amphitheatres in the University of Athens to protest against delays in the processing of asylum applications by the Greek government. Some of the refugees are sick and in need of medical assistance, and most of the group are now on hunger strike, explains the Athens daily, which adds that “the majority of the migrants, who hold down jobs in Greece, are not unhappy with their working conditions, but with their residency status in the country.”
