"The swastika was too small, and I didn't see it!" protests Radu Mazare on the front page of Evenimentul Zilei. Mazare, the mayor of Constanta, the biggest town on Romania's Black Sea coast, made headlines when he paraded in a Nazi uniform at a fashion show. "This is not the first time the social-democrat's appearance has been shocking," the paper reports. In the past, he has been known to don the costumes of an American mafioso or James Bond. He went a bit too far, however, with the Nazi uniform. Romania's Centre for the Struggle against Anti-Semitism has filed suit, accusing Mazare of violating the law against displaying Nazi symbols, which carries a sentence of up to 5 years in prison. "I'm not a Nazi, I'm a Wehrmacht officer," Mazare affirms, blaming his woes on the film "Valkyrie", starring Tom Cruise as Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg, one of the key plotters in a 1944 attempt to assassinate Hitler.
