"I prefer the book"
On 30 October, Dutch writer Harry Mulisch died aged 83 at his home in Amsterdam. A "living legend," who had won all of the awards in his own country but still dreamed of winning the Nobel Prize, Mulisch had been a major feature of the Dutch literary landscape for half a century. With works published in 30 languages, he was the most widely translated Dutch author. In 2007, his novel The Discovery of Heaven was voted the best Dutch novel of all time. He will be buried in Amsterdam on 6 November.
