Founded in 1989 and based in Lefkosia, the area of Nicosia in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) — an enclave controlled by the Turkish army and unrecognized by the international community — Kibris ("Cyprus" in Turkish) is the main Turkish Cypriot newspaper. The Turkish language daily, which notably came out in support of the Annan UN peace plan for the reunification of the island in 2004, has a special section devoted to news in the Greek Cypriot part of the island. Its website offers access to the full text of articles, special services for readers, and archived news.
