"El PPE descarta a Berlusconi"

Joseph Daul, el presidente del Partido Popular Europeo (de centro-derecha) en el Parlamento Europeo, ha dejado claro que el candidato del partido para las elecciones generales de febrero es el actual primer ministro, Mario Monti, y no el presidente del partido Pueblo de la Libertad (PDL), Silvio Berlusconi, que ha representado a los conservadores durante casi 20 años. Debido a la postura antieuropea de Berlusconi durante la campaña para distanciarse de Monti, algunos de los socios europeos de su partido reflexionan sobre la idea de expulsar al PDL del PPE.
